One of the most difficult challenges in selling the concept of performance support (PS) to stakeholders is positioning it effectively. For many stakeholders, PS is still a new concept, and it can often come across as a radical approach when a more traditional training solution is expected. All too often when we attempt to position PS it is seen and heard as jargon that detracts from the true value and benefit it brings to the table. Learning professionals must change the conversation from familiar training objectives to performance outcomes.
In this session participants will explore ways to shift conversations with clients and stakeholders from training-based objectives to objectives linked to performance outcomes. You will discuss the convergence of learning with work, including where, when, and how it is manifesting, and what performance support can do to effectively address it. You will examine change management tactics for positioning performance support for a small proof of concept and then scaling to a broader enterprise-wide adoption. You will leave this session understanding the technology implications of performance support being introduced into the existing environment, including its effects on technology already in place.
