We all have heard about the Experience API (xAPI, formerly Tin Can) and the benefits of it, but how do you use it outside of a normal authoring tool? What if you want to track a performance-app developed outside a normal learning course? We all may use different tools and solutions for different purposes so how do you implement the Experience API into whatever tool you end up using.

Participants in this session will work through different examples of how to implement the Experience API into different HTML5 solutions such as Edge Animate CC or Appcelerator Titanium. This way you can track users’ activity in whatever application or coding language you decide to use to deliver your training, and you can host your solution outside a normal LMS and still track user data. You’ll see real-world examples of xAPI implementation as well.

In this session, you will learn:

  • What the Experience API is
  • How to track with the Experience API
  • How to get the code for the Experience API
  • How to implement the Experience API

Some knowledge of what the Experience API is would be helpful, but is not necessary.

Technology discussed in this session:
The Experience API, Adobe Edge Animate CC, and Appcelerator Titanium.

Student Technology needs:
A laptop loaded with Edge Animate CC.
