Localizing content for users in different regions can be a daunting, time-consuming, and expensive task for even well-resourced companies. Even the process of getting course content into a local language can be a challenge. Tool providers have recognized that this is a problem and have provided systems embedded into their software to help us complete this task.

This session will show how to use the XML input-output feature in Articulate Storyline to translate a fully designed course into a local language. Furthermore, this session will demonstrate how this works in practice, covering using machine translators, working with local SMEs, and conducting validation translation. This case study will help smaller companies develop methodologies for doing this on a modest budget.

In this session, you will learn:

  • How to use the XML input-output feature of Articulate Storyline
  • How to use Google translate as an interim step to working with a translator
  • How to find and conduct a validation translation
  • The challenges of XML import into a pre-existing course

Participants should have a working knowledge of course development in Articulate Storyline or, at least, a working knowledge of how development in this platform works.
