SMEs often want to share more information than is needed to learn effectively about a software application. It is important to help them decide on the most critical information, especially when designing a software simulation. You need to help them understand the difference between teaching the software vs. teaching the process.

Session participants will learn the questions to share with the SME to identify the critical pieces learners need to learn about the software and process to keep engaged. You will discover how to incorporate the nice-to-know information in various learning tools using social media, handouts, etc. You’ll see examples of how courses have been designed to not feel linear and learn how to help your SME focus on what learners really need to understand about the software in order to get started effectively. The information you learn here can be applied to other types of course designs, such as compliance training and soft skills.

In this session, you will learn:

  • How to help your SME identify need-to-know information
  • How to incorporate nice-to-know information using other learning tools
  • How to have the learner focus on the process, instead of clicking through the slides
  • How to provide learning choices in a software-simulation course
