In this current climate of fiscal restraint, many organizations, especially not-for-profit sectors, need the technology of a learning management system (LMS) but have a very tight budget. They are simply unable to afford the enterprise LMS solutions available. There are ways to use a free LMS to meet not only the needs of their organization but, more importantly, the needs of their learners.

Participants in this session will learn how a multi-disciplinary team developed a blended-learning advanced-certificate program with Moodle and Articulate Storyline at its foundation. You’ll learn how they utilized the many features in Moodle and Storyline to ensure the program is learner-centered and learner driven. Using the asynchronous and synchronous forums you’ll discover how you can create a community of learners between individuals who are physically hundreds or thousands of miles apart. You’ll discuss how to use certain quizzing and assignment features in Moodle to ensure learners have constructed the appropriate learning in order to move forward in the program from week to week.

In this session, you will learn:

  • An introductory understanding of how you can use Moodle as a cost-effective delivery solution
  • The many features in Moodle you can use to deliver advanced certification
  • The benefits of a free, open-source LMS
