Ten years ago Xcel Energy embarked into the brave new world of eLearning, with a new soon-to-be-launched LMS, a small-but-enthusiastic team, some executive support, multi-state training needs and a bit of funding. Nearly a decade later, the team is still small and enthusiastic, yet they now develop over 70 courses per year, support a course library of over 1,400 online courses, track over 150,000 annual online course completions, and use an updated version of that initial LMS. When we started in 2001, we had to do a lot of internal marketing and promotion to gain customer acceptance. Now our focus has shifted from proving the value of online learning to meeting the onslaught of demand and increasing learner expectations.

Participants in this case-study session will learn practical approaches to common eLearning challenges. You’ll see a demonstration of the SharePoint project management solution, and share various project management templates and forms. You’ll learn how to collaborate with content owners and other stakeholders to ensure requirements are aligned pre-project and post-implementation, get various marketing tools for promoting services, and see the current team structure, roles, and organizational model for training governance.

In this session, you will learn:
  • How to deliver big results when your team is small
  • How to standardize for process efficiency
  • How to help subject matter experts help you
  • Tips and tools for full life-cycle eLearning project management
Audience: Intermediate designers, developers, team leaders, project managers and others.
