Instructional Designer (Temporary)
Champaign County Regional Planning Commission
The Instructional Designer develops online curriculum while employing working knowledge of current technologies, to create high-quality, engaging, interactive, and effective e-learning products.
Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, educational technology or closely related field
Must be a resident of Illinois or Indiana.
Two years of professional experience in instructional design
Proficiency with video editing software such as Camtasia, Adobe Premiere, iMovie, or similar
Experience with Articulate Rise (required) and Storyline (preferred) for e-learning development
Strong skills in PowerPoint for course content and visual design
Basic graphic design and multimedia skills (MS Office design tools sufficient; Adobe Creative Cloud a plus)
Ability to transform technical or complex information into clear, engaging learning materials
Strong writing and editing skills for course content and scripts
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, especially with formatting and version control
Clear communication skills for working with trainers and the instructional team
Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
Flexibility to work on an as needed basis during normal office hours.
While the position is remote, must reside within the state of Illinois.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Characteristics, and Abilities:
Master’s degree in Instructional Design, educational technology or closely related field
Three or more years of professional experience in online instructional design.
Two years of work experience with the Learning Management System, Canvas.
Schedule: 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., M-F (Flexibility is necessary to support the goals of the program.)
Worksite: Remote
Status: Temporary (Appointment ends June 30, 2026.)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week required.
Starting Wage: $38.46 – $43.59
