F1 Panel: Addressing the Urgent Need for Upskilling and Reskilling

Upskilling is primarily focused on helping employees increase skills tied to their current position, while reskilling is focused on preparing employees for other jobs within the organization. During the opening session of our Learning Leaders Online Forum, our panel of guests will explore why these topics have become so important and describe strategies for developing and supporting upskilling and reskilling programs in your organization.

Julian Stodd

Julian Stodd is an author and founder of Sea Salt Learning, a global learning consultancy helping organizations adapt and thrive in the social age. Much of his consultancy work is around the need for social leadership, the design of scaffolded social learning, planning for organizational change, and the impacts of social collaborative technology. Julian comes from an academic background in communication theory, psychology and neurophysiology, learning design, educational psychology, museum education, and philosophy. He is a proud global mentor with the Cherie Blair Foundation for Women, and a Trustee of Drake Music, a charity that works to break down disabling barriers to music through education and research. He was awarded the Learning Performance Institute’s Colin Corder Award for Services to Learning in 2016. He has written 10 books, including The Social Leadership Handbook, Exploring the World of Social Learning, and A Mindset for Mobile Learning.

Andrew Jacobs is founder and learning principal for Llarn Learning. Known for innovative thinking about learning, training, and technology, Andrew has significant experience in a range of roles across learning, training, talent, and people development. This experience has been learnt in a range of industries in both the public and private sectors, most recently in central government with HMRC and DHSC. He has a specific understanding of developing online and digital solutions for learning, social profile and engagement. He is a CIPD Leader in Learning. Andrew blogs daily and produces the podcast “Women Talking About Learning.”

Sharon Green, a Chartered Fellow CIPD, MA (HRM), is a trained coach, project and program manager, and professional interim consultant. Sharon has had a passion for learning for her entire career and founded Chiara Consultancy over 15 years ago following a successful, cross sector career as a project, people and change management specialist. Her consultancy helps clients, change, innovate and maximize the power of their people. Sharon specializes in people change projects, from large scale transformations to smaller scale initiatives that require technology, comms and engagement skills. She works with clients from start ups to global corporates. Her side hustle is running a global Linked In community of over 1350 independent people consultants, coaches and interims, the HR Interim Networking Group. They collaborate, support, learn and share leads and good practice.
