Richard White

Professor of Tuba/Euphonium, University of New Mexico

Tubist Richard White, who is known for his clear sound and stylistic flexibility, has performed on classical music stages for more than two decades. He began his tuba studies at age 12 at The Baltimore School for the Performing Arts, where he graduated with honors. He received his bachelor's degree from the Peabody Conservatory of Music, and his master's and doctoral degrees from Indiana University. He was the first African American in the world to receive a doctorate in music for tuba performance.
